YIF District Youth in Ntchisi, Dowa, Phalombe, and Zomba urged to give YIF application a tryYIF District

The National Youth Council of Malawi has today kicked off this week’s District Information Sessions for the Youth Innovation Fund (YIF), with engagements held in Ntchisi, Dowa, Phalombe, and Zomba, reaching over 600 young people.

Speaking during the session in Zomba, NYCOM Director of Finance and Administration, Mr. Ernest Mangani Senior, encouraged the youth to focus on the “wow factor” in their applications. He emphasized the importance of presenting unique and innovative ideas as a key pathway to success in securing grants.

Across all districts, participants were assured that selection for the fund is based purely on the strength and quality of their innovation. This message helped to dispel common misconceptions around the influence of connections, reinforcing transparency and fairness in the process.

These engagements have been conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture – Malawi, UNDP Malawi and District Youth Offices, whose commitment to mobilizing young people, coordinating community outreach, and facilitating the sessions has been instrumental in achieving strong participation and meaningful engagement across all districts. The application is window is set to open on 18th of May 2026.
