No. The fund is NOT a loan, it is a grant and beneficiaries will not be required to pay back the money. However, successful applicants will be expected to use the funds strictly for the approved project activities and comply with reporting and accountability requirements.

Yes. Applications are open to both individuals and groupthat meet the eligibility criteria. 

Yes. While the official youth age bracket as defined by the National Youth Policy in Malawi is between 10 and 35 years, applications will be received for individuals from 18 years to 35 in line with employment laws in the country

 No. Formal education qualifications are not a requirement. What matters most is the quality, feasibility, innovation, and potential impact of the proposed initiative or business idea.

An individual or group can apply for more than 1 business initiative as long as it meets the eligibility criteria but only one successful application will be considered for support. 

Yes. There are 3 tiers which you can apply for; the 1st tier iup to MWK5million, the 2nd tier up to MWK15million and the 3rd tier up to MWK30million. These guidelines will also be clearly indicated in the application form and call for proposals. However, the current window of application is only limited to Tier 2 and 3. 

No. The fund is not limited to only NYCOM registered affiliates. Eligible young people, groups, enterprises, organizations, and networks that meet the set criteria are encouraged to apply

Apart from financial support, beneficiaries may also receive mentorship, business development support, technical guidance, market connections, capacity building trainings, and networking opportunities.

Yes. The fund is also designed to support innovative ideas that are still in the idea stage. However, the current window of application is only limited to tier 2 and 3 

There are already existing facilities and financing opportunities that support conventional business ideas, while this fund is specifically designed to promote innovation-driven initiatives with unique and transformative solutions. The Youth Innovation fund prioritizes innovation to help address community challenges in new and effective ways, create competitive opportunities, promote sustainability, and increase the potential for job creation and long-term impact. 

Not necessarily. The final amount approved for disbursement may differ from the proposed budget depending on the assessment and budget review process 

Yes, only limited to Tier 2 depending on the stage and nature of the business. However, successful applicants will be encouraged to formalize and comply with relevant registration and regulatory requirements where applicable.

No. The fund is not targeting a specific number of youths. Support will be based on the availability of resources and the quality of applications received. 

Deliberate measures have been put in place to promote inclusivity, including support through district youth offices, physical assistance where possible, outreach activities, and alternative support mechanisms for vulnerable groups and youth with disabilities.

The selection process will follow clear and transparent procedures with verification and oversight mechanisms in place to ensure fairness, accountability, and integrity throughout the process.

Yes. Applicants may attach an additional budget sheet if the space provided in the application form is not sufficient.

Yes. Applicants may be allowed to attach supporting materials such as pictures, videos, or links where relevant to help strengthen their application.

Yes. Online businesses are also eligible to apply as long as they meet the eligibility requirements and demonstrate innovation, viability, and potential impact.

Yes. Non-profit organizations implementing innovative youth-focused initiatives may also apply provided they meet the eligibility criteria outlined in the call for applications.
